[Nanashi frowns. Sorry he didn't tell you sooner, cousin. He had issues. ]

I'm becoming more like the guy in my memories? He grew up in some kind of nuclear wasteland. That dude was always sick with something.

[So retrospec's at it again. He wishes that they didn't have to deal with their past lives at all.]

[ at any other time, jouhei might have pinched him but he's just glad that nanashi is sharing things with him now. he'd rather know and not dish out any consequences if that's what it's going to take ]

Yeah. From what I remember there was a huge war. Missiles kept raining down from the sky until someone decided to block it off with a huge rock. It was dark all the time and there was toxic waste everywhere.

[So he gained the effects from that in this life. This is too detailed so Nanashi can't be making any of this up. He's thankful that Jouhei's willing to listen regardless.]

I get so scared sometimes. It feels like it's just a dream and then it's not.

[ that does sound pretty awful. jouhei hasn't regained back any memories that suggest that his world is anything like nanashi's. although it sounds pretty awful, he kind of wishes that they were both from the same time and place. at least that can mean that jouhei can provide some sort of comfort. ]

... do you remember the war?

[ it's one thing to live in that shitty wasteland but it's another to actually go through a war and with the whole missile nonsense ]

Not really. I think my past self died before he saw anything. He was young like me.

[It feels weird saying that. Nanashi gives Jouhei his palm so he can see all the changes going on. His skin is paler in completion and all zombielike. Grosss???]

[ jouhei doesn't want to give up on a chance of possibly making anything better. maybe the doctor will just rec them to use heat pads or something but better than nothing. anyway, they've been walking for a while now so here they are! in front of the animal shelter ]

Okay, thanks for being so patient with me Jouhei. I know it's been hard.

[Nanashi's really lucky to have you around and he just wanted to let you know that.]

The shelter's pretty big. Where do we look first?

[ They're off to go poke at some animals. There's a bunch of kittens without homes all going MEOWWW. ]

[ jouhei's weakness... cute little animals... he would have gotten himself a pet earlier if he could but he was always busy with work and school that he figured that he didn't have enough time to take care of one but now that nanashi lives with him... it'll be nice to finally get a pet ]

Let's start here.

[ he walks over to one end of the hall. there are a line of cages that are pressed against the wall, all holding little clipboards on the front that contains a photo and details of the cat. they can follow the wall until they get through the entire room or until nanashi finds one he likes. whichever one that comes first ]

[Nanashi's just kind of poking around the animals, not really knowing which one to choose. They don't seem particularly interested in him for the most part. A black kitten let's out a MEOWWWWWWWWWWwwwwww and parks itself next to Nanashi's side.]

This cat won't let go of my leg. Jouhei, is this normal???

[UHhHhH help.]

[ NO HELP FOR THE LITTLE COUSIN instead jouhei just watches and looks down at the tiny cat. oh no, that's actually kind of cute ]

... it looks like it likes you.

[Nanashi pets the kitten on the head.]

They're so soft. I wouldn't mind taking care of them.

[Kitten looks a little grumpy though. This cat has been through some shit. Nanashi likes it anyways. He passes the kitten to Jouhei so he can take a better look. ]

[ jouhei will take the cat into his hands, looking at it. it definitely looks a bit grumpy but it' also pretty cute. he will rub a thumb over its fur as he holds it ]

Do you want this one?

I'd like to take this one. They seem lonely.

[Poor kitty. Nanashi's going to take good care of you with Jouhei!!]

Is that okay?

[ he nods. he'll take the clipboard to look over the info. hmm... ]

This one doesn't have a name.

[ which isn't very common but it's also not that uncommon as well. it happens now and then with new cats. time to pick a name, nanashi ]

That's sad. We should give them a name.

Are they a boy or a girl?

[JOUHEI check the clipboard for him, please. He'll pick a name soon!]

[ JOUHEI does check the clipboard and the answer is... ]

A girl.

She's a lady!! We have to treat her nicely!

[Nanashi pets the kitten on the head.]

I wanna name her Velvet because she's so soft.
